MUFG Investor Services Appoints Yannis Matsis as Managing Director and Head of its Cyprus Office
Mr. Matsis Brings More Than 20 Years of Senior Leadership Experience as MUFG Looks to Build out its New Operational Center in Cyprus
NEW YORK, May 10, 2022 – MUFG Investor Services, the global asset servicing arm of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, today announced the appointment of Yannis Matsis as Managing Director and Head of the Cyprus office, the firm’s new operational center located in Limassol, Cyprus. Mr. Matsis will be responsible for the oversight of the firm’s local asset servicing footprint, growth within the local Cypriot market, as well as business expansion activities in Europe and the Middle East.
Mr. Matsis brings more than 20 years of professional experience in senior positions, successfully building and managing global debt capital market teams across geographical locations including London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sao Paulo. He is currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency / Invest Cyprus, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, and as Chairman of Point Nine Data Trust.

Mr. Matsis has previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Hellenic Bank Group in Cyprus, responsible for managing the bank and its insurance subsidiaries. Prior to that role, he was partner and a co-founder of Point Nine, a financial technology start-up company that offers technology and middle and back-office trade processing, operations and reporting outsourcing services to financial institutions. He graduated from the University of Cambridge with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
